Preview - Be Your Own Sailing Coach

So, I've mentioned previously about Jon Emmett and the book he's written:

Be Your Own Sailing Coach: 20 Goals for Racing Success

Well, lucky me has received and Eval copy of the book to get into during my Paternity leave and beyond (I expected a short book, but he's packed into it over 270 pages)...

book

So over the next few weeks, both out of curiosity, helping out a fellow UK sailor and to sharpen my knowledge for the coming season, I'll be reading the book and adding my comments, review and thoughts about the book here on Soulsailor... So I encourage you all to have a look at buying this book, I'm only early-on through it, but it's shaping up to make a lot of sense...

To give you guys a taster about all this, I am going to have the first three of a series of Podcasts linked to the book, published right here on Soulsailor... The podcasts are conversations between Jon Emmett and Paul Goodison, a contributor to the book and a world class UK sailor...

14th March - Race Preparation Tips

21st March - Race Start Tips

28th March - Sailing Tactics

Enjoy!

Interesting idea. I don't think there's been a good book on being your own sailing coach since Eric Twiname's Sail, Race and Win came out in 1982. I'll be interested to see what this book is like. If you're familiar with the Twiname book perhaps you could write a post on how this new book compares.

I don't have Eric's book but I have read it, more intewresting is Jim Saltonstall's book - I am seeing similarities already to his book, around the exercises especially... I shall dig further, but yes definately I will be doing a review...
