In Retrospect

So, I'm just reminiscing about a few things around "life", whilst chilling to music "like Elvis Presley" on Last.FM...

The reason for this (see Twitter or FaceBook) is clear...anyway...

I just got to thinking about the Enterprise fleet, I've been around it for what must be 5 years now, maybe a little more.. I've had (with James's help) some bloody good times, some excellent sailing in top venues and we've sailed flaming well at times... it feels like these times may be drifting away, on their own accord, but maybe a new set of experiences are coming to the front... When I look at whose doing well at the moment it's heartening... you get the same top names popping in and out of the fleet stealing the silver-ware, you know the Estaugh's, Birds, Nick Craig etc... some good names have drifted away, only for a moment I'm sure.

Then you hear that people like Richy Adam's is gettin some smokin' results at the events he can be arsed to do... Ali Mo, bless her, is also racking up some good results and so are a host of others, younger-yachters than I now am but full fo the spirit of what sailing should be (and full of the spirit that the social is!) and the stalwarts of the fleet are all still there some good years, some not so good, up and down the fleet keeping it all together and reminding the rest of us what it's all about...

I like to think me and James were part of the rising stars mob a few years ago - came, sailed well, drank too much, enjoyed the class and have drifted away for a few moments.... damned sure we'll be back in some guise...

Good night...

I'll be at Southport for one of those brief flitters back...Soulsailor Racing Association will be reformed by then, 'cus people believe in it (and its better than sailing for Hallamshire B-team)....

I'll be at the side of the water, bottle of cheap Gin in my hand as the sun-sets and the boats battle and the music plays and the world turns again.... Join me....?
