Barnt Green, 30 years, working...

Ok, real quick post.

Sailed on Sunday @ Barnt Green... only did 2 races as it was James's ill-timed Birthday bash at 5pm on the otherside of Birmingham at the Spaghetti FActory...food was good, but I digress for a moment...

Rain was washing down at a rate of knots... the wind was not... about 18 boats arived to do battle in the picturesque Barnt Green "puddle"... the usual suspects were there... Bob Suggit of Lark fame and local yachter, Gez, the Blundell's, Jon, Baz, Youngy, Richy Adams&Bro and us of course..

So boat rigged, coffee drunk, stole a watch cus mine still aint fixed, James wore it for a change to do the count down and get my arse on the start-line... had a bit of a practice.. tacks, gybe, jib-stick etc etc, wind its usual fluky-way (I used to sail at Barnt Green, with Claire, before we decided it was either helm&crew or stay together!!).

Race 1 - feeling good, got a good position on the line, Jamees called out the numbers on the watch, sheeted in, went for it and Beep Beeep, freakin hell we're over the lines, light winds, sail slowly back to through the line and restart in pretty much the last place... ARSE... spent the rest of the race not talking to each other much and very slowly moving up the field, got back to about 10th...

Back in for lunch, coffee, pastie and beans... groovy... back out on the water, last race for reasons 2 be explained...

Race 2 - better start, just, got into 2nd place, feeling happier (now not wanting to give up Ent sailing!) hit some crap wind, lost 2 places then held 4th place for the remainder, it was a good sail, had to get in tune with the puffy, shifty breeze whilst keeping beteeen the next pack and the next mark....wow tactics, tacking on shifts and it actually working... its been a while :-)

Off the water pack up boat no race 3 James's 30th Birthday bash the other side f Brum.. had time to drag race home, pick up Claire & kids, then back up tut north Brum.. good party, nice fishy italian pasta and stuff kids had a great time, James had a great cake but I forgot to take a photo then drive back home and sleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep....

Basically job is going well, busier than I thought, doing more public speaking than I thought, but I think thats a bloody good thing, and unfortunately looks like I'll be running round the country like a blue arse fly over the next two weeks... sorry Claire...
