Crufts 2007 - Day 1

So me and Murphy's first day of Crufts 2007 has been done, it all went suprisingly well and it was a bloody good tonic for being impendingly out of work!

So, we were there as part of Team A - Good Citizens Dog Scheme Gold Award demonstration team; a couple of months ago there was a selection trial and out of 50 dogs they chose 9 to be part of the team, and that included the fantastic Murphy...

So it was a bloody long day 6am start, got home by 7pm ish... 3 demonstrations scheduled and a bit of retail therapy as well.

The practice, once we eventually got started, was ok, but a little shabby round the edges... grabbed myself a bacon sarnie, had some coffee and felt like the first real show-time would be better.... and it was, things went pretty smoothly, no one screwed up.. the dogs weren't perfect, but then they're not meant to be... they're meant to be good, controlled, well mannered and for that they were exemplary...

Next time up was lunchtime, I sat out of that, but did a cameo appearance as a "stranger and dog" (or maybe just a strange dog...actually strange bloke with dog is more apt!) so we walked into the ring, Murphy said hi to about 4 dogs and we walked off...easy...

The "lunchtime show" went fairly well and Jen the team leader wasn't stressing too much, the rest of us seemed to be enjoying things, Marmite was as chilled as always and I bought murphy a T-shirt to make him look cool, not sure it worked? The poor greyhound got a bit freaked by all the cameras and flashing lights so sat out the last show..

We went over to the Staffie kiosk in "Discover dogs", met a gorgeous little puppy and one of the helpers on the stand promised to come over to our last show and take some photo's... can't wait to see them...

had a pint of lager in the afternoon to keep me (and a few others) going, more wandering around the stacks of stalls then last show... that went really well and we all finioshed on a high, Murphy and Marmite (Rottie) had their photo taken, we packed up and then went home....

So back agin to Crufts in 7 hours time :-) more fun and frolics and its Staffordshire Bull Terrier day as well so seeing them will be sooo exciting! More pics and maybe video tomorrow...
