Ent Ooops - Inlands 2006

OK, you've had the vaguely formal report, here comes the bonus DVD content...

Bonus 1
So I had long got to Rutland, got a great "breakfast baguette" got to a chilled table on the veranda...splat... obviosuly the brown sauce had made tha bacon slippy and the whole freakin lot hit the deck...I enforced the 5 second rule, scooped up my breakfast and sat casually down to continue eating... I did leave the bloody great SPLAT of brown sauce on the floor, seemed bad manners to scrape that up...

Bonus 2
Anne Jackson, myself and the Scutt's had a 3-some bump and grind session at the windward mark on Sunday... approaching on starboard (for once) Anne tracking in on port, tacks under me FAR, Far, far too close, she does a large roll-tack, whilst heeled we manage to scoot up to windward of her clear enuff, just, to avoid contact... Anne knows she was in our water, we're within a boat-length or so of the mark, she bears away real hard to do a 720.....and hits the Scutt's who have just rounded and borne of onto a run...Youch! Some "shouting" occurs... some bewliderment and we sail off releved...!

Bonus 3
Muppets can't steer around BIG orange marks!
Its a classic and really serves me right for not sailing to my capabilities and being mid-fleet... had a shocker of a beat, lost about 15 places, not happy... went well down the reach, started to overtake a few boats and make progress through the fleet in the right direction... the pack I was "with" bunched up on the approach to the gybe mark, breeze was still fairly light, we made the decision as the next leg was fairly broad this time, that we would avoid the raft at the mark, stay in pressure, do a clean power gybe and sail (fast and free) low to the leeward mark... I think we must have been about 4 boatlengths wide of the mark, boats were causing carnage and this one person careered of away from the mark (towards us), I was pushed away from the mark into another guy who had the same idea, she (it was a woman I'm not being sexist) shouted that she was being pushed that way...by an invisible boat? there was a good couple of meteres until the next boat in... BANG....crunch...graze etc etc we basically T-boned her... as did a couple of other boats, there was some, shall we say, blue/torquoise language, probably some splinters and we drove, pushed and bumped our way out and off in the right direction, with the carnage left behind us...... I hate sailing in that part of the fleet.. knowledge is dangerous in those that sail there.. lots of knowledge, usually a lack of experience and a degree of dodgy boat-handling skills... the brain knows what it should be doing but the damn boat won't comply...

Surely its easy you get to the gybe mark, tiller towards you smoothly, duck and set sail for the next mark.... whoever you were that really messed with my karma at that mark, I hope you read this and take note....take lessons or take up something else.... if this doesnt make sense to you the PLEASE, get in touch and I'll be ahppy to instruct you as to the better way to get round the BIG orange marks!

Thanks all for watching....

Aah, Rutland...I learned to sail there. Watch out for the bubbler near the dam...I got stuck in the middle of it once in an Optimist. Curiosity killed the cat.
