OK, so the last of these Sales "things" for a while... I think they have been usful and its good that Microsoft are spending some time and effort enabling sales people to engage with customer son more than just geek-stuff and technology; but despite the best efforts of these guys I'm still not 100% convinced that they have achieved it...
The content was fine, well presented etc, and again I learnt maybe one or two useful snippets through the day, but not what I wanted and the sessions, for me anyway, are getting to be places where I sit, get spoken to and a few "ideas for back at the office" get stimulated and recorded..
Sales Academy, that kind of indicates a full on here's how to sell our stuff session, lots of detail about business benefits, ROI, business pains and lots of tips as to what tags to use, what feeds and who and how to engage...but no.. Sales Academy to them seems to mean explain how our technologies..sorry..solutions work at a level a salesperson would understand, no disrespect but that mean explain the technologies in abasic way that actually doesn't stimulate much innovation or excitement... I'm afraid for the moment I'll have to ignore any "sales sessions" and just get back out on the road selling solutions, talking to customers, evangelising and keeping the team happy...
Good Night Microsoft Sales pretenders...
